Team Video

As a team, the members of  my class created this video. We each created our own video and had one of the members edit it all together.

They Inspire Me

I have spent the last couple of weeks drawing. I have done over 30 images of women who inspire me by the way they live their lives. It has been hard. I have literally worked until I couldn't look at a computer screen. I have learned how to handle new details of how to make each drawing better.

I have written stories about how their lives have pushed me on. It is such a blessing to live in a community where there is good life.

This woman here is good at everything she does. She dances. She draws. She helps others. She loves her family. I love watching her life because when it is all said and done, life will be broke and she will be rich. She is using it all.

Final Project

I have been drawing my heart out over the past couple of days.  Here are a few of the ones I have worked on. These plus many more will be used in a book about women who inspire me.

Final Project

As I continue to layout the book and write, I am also tefining the process of drawing. As I learn new things, I have to stop myself from going back to redoing the other drawings. I am praying I do not run out of time.

Final Project

As I write the stories that go with the images I am drawing, it helps me design the page. It is coming together well. With each drawing I learn more, but I have to stop myself from going back and correcting other drawings or I will run out of time.

Final Project

Today I spent time laying the project out. I decided which images would go where. It was also an opportunity to see if things would work the way I have envisioned it.  Lots of work to do.

Photography

In the study of photography, here are photos I have taken that speak to several elements of photography. The first image I have titled Hold Note, it is an image where everything counts. The musicans are waiting for the snow to let up so they can play. I lightened the photo so you could see the snow.
In Leading Lines. I love this image that leads up to the sky. Originally it was dark so I lightened it.

In Shallow Depth of Field I also lightened the image so that the sun hotting the petals comes through.

In the layered look the buldings are different yet, they give a layered look to the image. I lightened the image.

In Reducing It Down, with the bird nest built on the security camera, I changed the hue and saturation on that so taht the nest shows up clearly.

The next image was the Rule of Thirds. it is from a dance concert. I lightened the image and added vibrance

The next one was Something Is Wrong.  The people are walking away from the direction of the camera, the buildings are pointed in directions away from the camera.  And all of the shiny glass buildings surround the one being demolished.

The next one is my attempt at symmetry. I lightened it with levels.

The next one is a busy street in Chicago on a snowy evening. I increased the saturation because lights need to be bright.

Finally, a tree blooming looks strange. But again hue and saturation were increased so that one could see the blooms. .

Pastels

With this process, we took a photo and transformed it into a drawing. Then with a brush process I painted in the color. In the end the image looks as though it was drawn. This was my first and only attempt at this process. It was a very long process.

Drawing for Inspiration

As I look at the folks who inspire me, I am working on art that  reflects it. This image is the first time I have worked in black and white.

Final Project

So for the last couple of days I have been struggling with this project. It will be a printed book, but I spent days thinking about what will be in this book. I started creating because I knew it would  be about me. It all starts in Fort Worth.

Surrealism

I struggle with this form of art. I like it, but have a difficult time coming up with something clever. Here is the real Queen of our family, Moxie.

Charcoal Photo

The process of making a photo look like a charcoal drawing was tedious.  I found myself starting over three or four times. Through a process of masks and layers I turned my photo of a pink rose into what looked like a charcoal drawing titled Black Rose. In Photoshop, I used curves, filters, masks, patterns, brushes and noise.

Low Poly

I used geometric shapes placed side by side to create an image with Illustrator. This type of art is called Low Poly. It may look simple, but it is difficult to align and color into an image.  I call this piece "Daddy" because I took the image from his high school graduation photo.

Picabia Tribute

In my tribute to Francis Picabia, I explored shapes of flowers and changed the texture of some. Traditional geometric shapes didn't appeal to me, but I loved his use of eyes.

Lines and Not Lines

This drawing which I have titled Petty is one in which I experimented with lines in Illustrator and Photoshop. I called this Lines and Not Lines because of the use of dots. Lines are continuous marks where as dots are just points. I traced an original photo and added the color.  I believe this is a fresh vibe and makes life a cartoon. It makes me laugh.

Artists That Inspire Me

Color makes me happy, along with light used well. Here are some example of artist whose work I love. Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Annie Leibovitz. To me their work evokes an emotion.
